design/installation: objectives for video

All video systems that we design and install are designed to acheive the following technical, aesthetic, and practical objectives.

Technical Objectives

- Provide clear sightlines from all seats to the viewing surface.

-Proper screen location is determined taking into consideration all sightlines and possible obstructions. When necessary, multiple screens are implemented.

- Provide bright, clear, images.

-Light meters are used to calculate ambient light during the time of day when equipment will be used.

-Scientific calculations are used to determine the power of projector needed bases on screen size and ambient light.

- Provide quality images from multiple sources.

-Appropriate, high quality scaler/switchers are implemented, ensuring that signals are always scaled up to the highest resolution rather than down to the lowest resolution.

Aesthetic Objectives

- Systems are designed to complement the facilities in which they are installed

-Projector mounts, screen hardware, and other visible components are available in colors to match the décor of the facility.

-Cable runs are buried and terminated in a discrete manner.

Practical Objectives

- Systems are designed to minimize viewer fatigue.

-Images should be projected in locations that are easy to see, in a manner that is bright and clear such that viewers can see without straining necks or eyes.

- Systems are designed to be flexible, able to meet many needs within a space.

- Systems are designed to consider responsible financial stewardship.

-By using quality equipment, you are ensured less service will be required and you will be able to depend on your system every week.

-By designing systems that are easy to operate and intuitive less work is required to train volunteers and operate the system. The system is also protected as it is less likely to be misused.

-Systems may be able to be installed in stages, rather than all at once, allowing the use of quality equipment rather than compromising to be able to do everything at once.
